Can you take the TCF Canada "online" from home?
No. Every session takes place at an accredited centre with an invigilator present, and the speaking section is conducted face to face with an examiner. Any site offering a remote, at-home TCF Canada is not offering the real exam.

The practical differences are worth preparing for. If you type slowly in French, a computer session penalises you; if your handwriting is slow or unclear, paper does. Practise in the format you will actually sit.
How to know which format you will take
The centre decides, not you. Ask when you register — it is a one-line question and it removes an unnecessary surprise on the day. The information is rarely published in advance, so asking directly is the only reliable route.
Preparing effectively for either format
Since the content is identical, your preparation is identical. What matters is the format of the exam, not the medium: 39 questions in 35 minutes for listening, played once, and 39 in 60 minutes for reading.
