Can you take the TCF Canada "online" from home?
No. Contrary to a common belief, the TCF Canada is not taken remotely from your home. It always takes place in person, at a test centre approved by France Éducation international.
What varies is the delivery format inside the centre: some sessions are computer-based, others are on paper. The centre decides which format it offers.
Computer vs paper: what changes?
The content, number of questions and scoring are identical. Only the practical experience differs slightly:

Speaking is always face to face with an examiner, whatever the format. The most concrete difference is Writing: typed (computer) or handwritten (paper).
How to know which format you will take
The format depends on the centre and session you choose. It is usually shown at registration. If in doubt, contact the centre directly.
Preparing effectively (for either format)
Because the content is identical, your preparation is too. Practising online in the official format prepares you for both versions:
- 40 comprehension series per section, timed, just like exam day;
- Writing practice — if your centre is computer-based, get used to typing; otherwise practise handwriting too, to manage timing;
- AI speaking simulator — since speaking is identical in both formats.
