The distinction matters practically. With the DALF you decide in advance which level to attempt and risk failing it. With the TCF Canada there is nothing to fail — you simply land where your French places you.
Which one does immigration need?
For Canadian economic immigration, IRCC accepts the TCF Canada and the TEF Canada. A DELF or DALF, whatever the level, is not on that list — it cannot be converted to NCLC and will not support your file.

This catches candidates who already hold a DALF C1 and assume it is superior. It may well reflect a higher level; it is simply not the currency IRCC accepts.

The TCF Canada is identical worldwide: same sections, same scoring, same NCLC conversion. Where you sit it changes nothing about how you prepare.
