The 3 writing tasks
- Task 1: a short message (describe, inform).
- Task 2: an article or letter (recount, explain).
- Task 3: compare two viewpoints and argue your position.
A method for each task
- Read the prompt carefully and underline every requirement.
- Plan briefly before writing (2 minutes): position + arguments.
- Respect the word range — too short or too long both cost points.
- Re-read to catch agreement and conjugation errors.
Structure and connectors
A visible structure (intro, development, conclusion) is essential, especially for Task 3. Use logical connectors (first, moreover, however, therefore) and vary vocabulary to show range. Avoid repeating "thing", "good", "there is".
Managing your time
Split the 60 minutes across the 3 tasks and keep a few minutes to proofread. Don't spend all your time polishing Task 1 and rush Task 3, which weighs on argumentation.
